Charity screening of "When The Sakura Blossomed In That Town" (あの街に桜が咲けば)

SOAS, University of London 10 Thornhaugh Street, Russell Square London, WC1H 0XG

Monday, March 12 2018 from 08:30 pm to 11:00 pm

We will be screening the documentary film "When The Sakura Blossomed In That Town" (あの街に桜が咲けば), to remember the victims of the 2011 tsunami disaster. The event will be held in the DLT and is free entry.

The film focuses on the activities of the non-profit organisation Sakura Line 311, which include planting sakura (cherry blossom) along the arrival points of the tsunami in the town of Rikuzentakata. Their aim is to make a 17km sakura line which would be a landmark, helping people to evacuate to a higher place in the case of potential future disasters. More information about the organisation can be found here:

We will have a donation box for the Sakura Line 311 charity, so please donate if you can :)
